An update and reminder about the Northern Combine Women's Points Series. First up, it brings the Combine Women's team great pleasure to announce MAAP as our series prize sponsor. The winner at the end of our final round will receive a full MAAP kit in their size, what a prize! Thanks to MAAP for their support of women's racing. A full points standings update will be provided soon but as it stands Peta Antonello is currently leading the series. Well done Peta, a pair of MAAP socks are headed your way! We have more socks to give out as the series progresses, so keep turning up, every point counts. A reminder of how it all works: We want to encourage more women to race the Combine, and as an incentive we are running a simple points-based award series, rewarding both results and participation. The series encompasses ALL grades and ALL races on the calendar. The riders with the top 3 accumulated points at the end of the season will win prizes including a full MAAP kit for our series overall winner.Check out how it works here - northerncombinecycling.org/racing/womenThese points/prizes are in addition to the usual race prizes.Bunches πŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸš΅β€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸš΅β€β™€οΈπŸš΅For graded scratch races, some races will have separate women's grades, which start as separate bunches. This is somewhat subject to entry numbers (to be determined on an individual race basis) but usually applies to the Hawthorn and St Kilda and Latrobe Uni races.Otherwise women race in a starting bunch with men - WA with Mens C, WB with MD, WC with ME. That means you have a decent bunch to draft from, break away with and or hang out with if you get dropped from the main bunch.πŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆπŸ₯‰ In all cases, full women's podiums (1st to 3rd) are awarded. And equal prize money is paid (eg third in WC gets same $ as third in MC). πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°How good is that? For handicaps, you will be put into a group based on ability, and everyone has a chance of scoring. Prizes are awarded 1st to ~10th over the line. Plus in every handicap there is a prize for fastest woman (ie fastest time by a woman, not necessarily highest placed). Traditionally handicaps would always pay a 'fastest time' prize, but it's hardly fair when it's guaranteed to be a man.Talk to Corinn or Alison, your friendly women's reps here or send us an email - women@northerncombinecycling.org ...
